About the Position
Medical leadership role with independent responsibilities in diagnostics, research and teaching, not a position for laboratory technicians.
Combination of section leadership with a junior professorship at the Chair of Microbiology and Laboratory Medicine of the University of Witten/Herdecke.
The Helios University Hospital Wuppertal is a campus location of the University of Witten/Herdecke.
Work location: Heusnerstraße 40, 42283 Wuppertal.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead microbiological diagnostics, work responsibly and further develop the area professionally.
- Develop and establish modern microbiological and molecular diagnostic methods.
- Collaborate with institute leadership and clinical specialties on infectiological and diagnostic questions.
- Conduct independent scientific work and develop an own research profile.
- Actively advance research and teaching at the Faculty of Health.
Your Profile
- Recognition as a specialist in Microbiology, Virology and Infection Epidemiology and completed PhD.
- Extensive experience in clinical microbiological diagnostics and interest in professional and strategic development.
- Scientific profile in Clinical Microbiology, Infection Diagnostics or related fields, demonstrated by relevant publications.
- Interest in independent scientific focus development and acquisition of third‑party funding.
- Enjoyment of academic teaching and innovative teaching formats.
- Willingness to collaborate interdisciplinarily with clinical departments and scientific institutions.
- Legally required proof of immunisation against measles.
Contract, Organization and Compensation
Full‑time or part‑time; start as soon as possible or immediately.
The junior professorship is initially established for three years. After a successful interim evaluation, an extension of another three years up to a total of six years is possible, not guaranteed.
Tenure‑track option with requirements especially in research, teaching and academic self‑governance; no guaranteed permanent appointment.
The contract duration of the clinical section leadership is not specified separately and is not automatically aligned with the junior professorship term.
