Overview
Blackrock Health Galway Clinic is recruiting a Clinical Nurse Specialist for Oncology and Hematology due to service expansion.
The post is permanent, full-time and based in the Nursing Department at the Galway Clinic.
About the role
The Clinical Nurse Specialist provides a specialist nursing service for hematology and oncology patients across the continuum of care.
The role supports a nurse-led, person-centred approach and works closely with the multidisciplinary team in clinical care, patient review, treatment-side-effect management, education, audit and service development.
The post holder participates in multidisciplinary team meetings, ward rounds, virtual reviews and telephone nurse-led review using the UKONS telephone triage system.
Requirements
- Active registration on the NMBI Register of Nurses and Midwives
- Minimum one year of experience, or an aggregate of one year full-time equivalent experience, in hematology or oncology
- A completed post-registration Level 9 QQI National Framework of Qualifications major academic award relevant to cancer, equivalent to at least 60 ECTS, or recognised equivalent evidence from a Higher Education Institute
- Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the specialist area
- Ability to practise safely and effectively within professional scope of practice
- High standard of clinical, leadership, managerial and administrative capability
