Overview
Beacon Hospital is recruiting a Staff Nurse for its Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory in Dublin.
The post holder works closely with the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory and Cardiology multidisciplinary team to deliver a high-quality cardiology service.
About the role
The Staff Nurse assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care for allocated patients.
The role includes direct patient care, nursing assessment, individualised care planning, medication and treatment administration, clinical documentation, patient education and communication with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team.
The post holder contributes to quality management, audits, hospital accreditation, health-promotion initiatives and departmental risk-management processes.
The role may include internal rotations, rostering flexibility, night duty and theatre on-call requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care and assume responsibility for allocated patients
- Take nursing histories, identify care needs and develop individualised care plans
- Monitor, document and escalate changes in patients’ physiological status
- Perform admission, discharge and transfer procedures
- Administer prescribed medicines and treatments safely
- Apply aseptic technique, isolation procedures and infection-control measures
- Maintain accurate, timely and confidential patient documentation
- Involve patients’ families and significant others as appropriate
- Support quality improvement, audit, accreditation and health-promotion activities
- Communicate risks, incidents and service issues to the Nurse Manager and Clinical Co-ordinator
Requirements
- NMBI Registered General Nurse licence in good standing
- Basic Life Support certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification desirable
- One year of cardiology or cardiac catheterisation laboratory experience preferred
- Recent and relevant experience in a specialised area and acute hospital setting
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
- Strong clinical communication, planning, organisation and time-management skills
