Overview
Beacon Hospital is recruiting a Registered Nurse for its Emergency Department in Dublin.
The post holder works as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver a high standard of emergency patient care.
About the role
The Staff Nurse manages the care of emergency patients and supports the needs of their families.
The post holder develops additional clinical skills relevant to emergency nursing, participates in education and research, and contributes to the maintenance of high nursing standards.
The role includes flexibility to meet the service needs of the hospital.
Key responsibilities
- Provide nursing care using an individualised system of care and agreed nursing standards
- Maintain accountability for professional actions and work within NMBI Scope of Professional Practice and Code of Professional Conduct
- Keep the nurse in charge informed of clinically relevant changes
- Develop emergency-specialty skills and assist with relevant procedures after induction
- Interpret clinical observations and plan changes in care with senior staff
- Maintain accurate, legible and confidential clinical and legal documentation
- Monitor complaints and incidents and report them to the Clinical Co-ordinator
- Support and supervise junior nursing staff during shifts
- Contribute to quality assurance, emergency policies, infection prevention and departmental standards
- Participate in staff education, mentoring, performance review, research and policy revision
Requirements
- Registration in the Register of Nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland
- One year of post-registration nursing experience
- Six months of emergency nursing experience desirable
- Ability to use initiative and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Effective communication skills and ability to manage a busy workload
- Commitment to service quality and ongoing professional development
- Willingness to undertake extended nursing roles following appropriate training
